PolyGroup Inc. and Two H Chem Ltd. are pleased to announce the introduction of very high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) based microparticle powders adding to the already established line of plastic based microparticle powders. The SP Series™ product line offers various grades with different mean average particle sizes ranging between 40 and 700 micron. These finely sized HMWPE based powders exhibit melt index values well below 0.1 gm/10 min, as measured by ASTM 1238, 190 C, 2.16 kg. Molecular weight values fall between those of typical extrusion grade polymers and UHMWPE making them a good technical value for many applications that require low melt flow and very high toughness. SP Series™ HMWPE powders can be used in paints, varnishes and coatings for multiple purposes including anti-slip agent, anti-graffiti additive, squeak sound control between floor and tires, structural agent, and satin and matte finish effects. Applications include car park and other heavy duty industrial flooring, road marking, structural paints, wood and metal furniture, marine paint, varnishes, and others.

The PROPOLDER™ product line offers two types of polypropylene powder; FPP™ Series polypropylene homopolymer and MPP™ Series polypropylene homopolymer grafted with maleic anhydride. Polypropylene based powders exhibit higher melting point and superior hardness compared to polyethylene. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene provides the functionality required for dispersion in water and the polarity for adhesion to glass, metals and other substrates. PROPOLDER™ powders are available in a wide range of average particles sizes from 5-300 micron. PROPOLDER™ polypropylene powders can be used in paints, varnishes and coatings for multiple purposes including anti-slip agent, structural effects and satin and matte finishes. PolyGroup Inc. Announces FDA and NSF Food Contact Compliance for Microparticle Powders

PolyGroup Inc. is pleased to announce that FIPOLDER FHP05080 and FHP05040 high density polyethylene based microparticle powders comply with FDA regulationU.S. 21 CFR F.D.A. Part 177.1520 Clauses (c)(2.1) and (3.2) and NSF/ANSI Std. 51 (National Sanitation Foundation - Food Equipment Materials).

FDA U.S. 21 CFR Part 177.1520 Clauses (c)(2.1) and (3.2) regulate the use of polyethylene for use in articles that contact food for articles packing or holding food including its use during cooking.

The NSF/ANSI 51 standard is specifically applicable to materials and coatings used in the manufacturing of objects destined for contact with foodstuffs, whether solid or liquid. The standard is also applicable to piping, seals, gaskets, valves and other items destined for various applications concerning contact with foodstuffs. The objects or materials certified standard NSF 51 must comply with strict criteria concerning analysis and guarantee of the requirements of the purity of substances used for its manufacture.
